The freshwater Lake Durankulak is the habitat of much birdlife, and is one of the most impoartant and well-preserved wetlands in Bulgaria. The land is divided into two adjoining plots. It is situated just to the south of the lake, and is at the same time only about 80 metres from a beautiful beach. The lake is a part of the Shabla lakes complex, which is an important wintering ground of the Red-breasted and White-breasted Goose. It is also the habitat for the Ferruginous Duck. There is much Wild Carp in the lake. This land is not suitable for development but is a reliable store of value in these difficult economic times. It is also a superb location for shooting of ducks and geese (a licence is obtainable from the Municipality) and carp-fishing.
